This past week Spike went on a trip over the Tacoma Narrows bridge. This bridge was built and opened on July 1, 1940, and collapsed 4 moths later, the disaster was caught on film. You can see the film by clicking here.
Today due to increased traffic a second span has been constructed.
I'm too young to remember the bridge collapse, but apparently that's where the term "galoping Gertie" came from. The term was quite a popular saying when I was growing up. Spike seems to be seeing and learning lots...so am I. Thank you.
